ABOUT US

The mission of Leadership Tangipahoa is to improve the quality of life in Tangipahoa Parish by training a diverse group of current and emerging leaders about the interrelationships of community systems.
Who We Are
The continued growth of Tangipahoa Parish signals the need for development of trained, informed and responsible leadership.

Leadership Tangipahoa seeks out individuals who are interested in developing their skills as leaders, increasing their knowledge of our community, and learning what they can do to actively participate in community affairs.

Leadership Tangipahoa was originally established by the Amite, Hammond, Independence, Kentwood, and Ponchatoula Chambers of Commerce, to assist in preparing participants for positions in local business, government, and community affairs.

The purpose of Leadership Tangipahoa is to provide a forum for which students can attend and participate in workshops sponsored by community leaders and organizations to educate and develop their potential for community service.
Our Objectives
The purpose is to provide a forum for and increase the awareness of potential leaders by giving them an intense course that encompasses a broad scope of community concerns.

• To develop a renewed sense of enthusiasm and "can do" attitude in the community.

• To identify and select highly motivated, emerging or existing leaders in business, government, and the community, to participate in the program.

• To systematically educate and challenge the participants as to the needs and opportunities of the community and dynamics of social and economic change.

• To develop an "esprit de corps" among the participants to provide a common ground for working on present and future community projects.
